Find Furniture for Kids Online

Its quite a job to select furniture for a kid’s room. Kids love climbing and playing around with stuff…a parent normally looks for furniture that goes with the theme of the house, and this usually ends with the parents buying furniture that they like, which can be called a little selfish! Try and understand what the kids would love, and like everything else in life, meet the, halfway there…. compromise a little on looks as long as the durability and value for money is maintained. Kids love bunk beds and beanbags, and ladders to climb up to the higher bunk. Give it to them!

www.everythingfurniture.com is a great place to check out kids’ furniture. The web site is well designed, easy to use and has great photographs that help you select what you want to buy. One of the best features here is, you don’t have to stick to their ‘sets’ of furniture, you can mix and match from any of the photographs you see, and they promise everything is in stock…sent in under 3 weeks. On the home page, you see bedroom sets along with comforters, so you can start selections right away. Also check out www.ga.childrenfurniture.com for a long list of links to various kids’ furniture sites.

There are a few things to keep in mind when buying furniture for a kid’s room. One obvious thing is you don’t want furniture with pointed edges or sharp ends with which your kid can hurt himself or others. Try and get plastic chairs where possible. Not only is plastic light and safe to play with, its easy to clean away when your kids spills something on it! So a few plastic chairs and tables in bright colors (maybe the child’s favorite color?) are just what you need for the play area. Of course you don’t want to buy glass tables for the kids’ room. Plastic being light weight, it can topple over easily if the kids stand on it, so try and get low chairs with wide bases, which would have a low center of gravity – thereby making it sturdier, and difficult to topple over. Folding chairs are not advisable for a kids’ room, because they have hinges where the little fingers can get caught in.

Though we may be going a little off the track here, I’d like to mention something about flooring. You don’t want to spread expensive rugs in the children’s’ room, and then get wild when they drop milk shake all over it! Instead, go for vinyl sheets stuck to the floor…bright looks and easy to clean and wipe…just like the plastic chairs!

For very young kids, you may think of buying feeding tables, where they don’t fall away while you feed them! For older kids you could think of adding a study table to their room.
